Serving the Children of the World

Club History

The Ashland Kiwanis Club was chartered in 1947. We are one of over 7,700 worldwide Kiwanis clubs in 80 countries. Our motto is "Serving the Children of the World".

We are especially proud of the many funds raised each year to support the Ashland School District. These funds support programs including: "Student of the Month" at Ashland High School, senior student scholarships, reading and mentoring programs at Bellview Elementary school, and books for school libraries.

We are also proud of our sponsorship of the Ashland High School's very active Key Club. The club schedules community service projects for the city's schools, Special Olympics, and fundraisers for a needy student from time to time.

For over 36 years, Ashland Kiwanis has offered our Flag Program, which provides the placement of American flags at nearly 300 subscribing locations on ten Federal Holidays.

For 9 years we have organized and managed, in partnership with the Ashland Schools Foundation, the annual Halloween Monster Dash Run for Education and the Monster Ball Pasta Dinner Party. Net proceeds go to the Schools Foundation who makes it available to Ashland's public schools as "in-classroom" grants to support special projects or activities.

We also aid the physically and intellectually challenged athletes at Special Olympic events; we promote literacy by tutoring and reading in schools; we entertain the residents of rehab centers; and we support environmental education of youth at North Mountain Park's Nature Center.

Membership is open to men and women who wish to respond to the needs of our community.

Our Foundation was granted 501(c)(3) status in April 2007; all donations are tax deductible.
